Halloween Fairy
Mirabilia's *Halloween Fairy* — *not so terribly frightful is she who flutters in the Hallow's Eve* — a fairy with peacock-eye wings and a long plum-and-black gown, hugging a carved jack-o'-lantern nearly as big as she is, edged in Mill Hill beadwork on natural linen.

Halloween Fairy by Mirabilia / Nora Corbett — Limited Edition pattern #3 from her Fairy Holiday Collection, the series of one-per-holiday seasonal fairies released as numbered limited-edition charts/kits. From the designer’s own text on the chart:
Not so terribly frightful is she who flutters in the Hallow’s Eve. One can hear her giggling as she plants her colorful tricks and treats. Are those violet wings part of her costume or are they real? She wears her black cape to keep you guessing!
The chart is 106w × 120h, finishing roughly 5½” × 8” on 32ct, with a long-skirted fairy hugging a carved jack-o’-lantern pumpkin nearly as big as she is — peacock-eyed butterfly wings in sage, teal, and gold, a plum-and-black gown with a black caped overlay, and Mill Hill seed beads running along the hem and wing edges. I had the kit version (long since discontinued; only the chart is still sold), which included the full Crescent Colours thread set called for in the original, the linen, and the beads.
About 80% of the way through I ran out of the wings color and had to find a substitution. Crescent Colours had wound down by then, but Classic Colorworks bought their recipes when they did — so a Classic Colorworks skein in the equivalent shade dropped in almost exactly matching, with only the most careful inspection turning up the swap.
The Fairy Holiday Collection is a numbered limited-edition series of six. Confirmed release order via the MIR-KIT codes (KIT05 is a non-fairy 2006 Christmas Tree and skipped):
- Christmas Elf Fairy (KIT01) — the holiday-themed fairy that opens the series
- Easter Fairy (KIT02) — a petite fairy in a pale yellow dress with spring flowers
- Halloween Fairy (KIT03) — this piece, “not so terribly frightful”
- Miss Valentine (KIT04) — the Valentine’s Day fairy
- Miss New Year’s Fairy (KIT06) — “waits for the clock to strike midnight in glittering pearls and confetti,” released 2007
- Thanksgiving Harvest Fairy (KIT07) — “she gathers from her garden as she walks in the brisk Autumn air”
Started July 11, 2023. Finished October 25, 2025 — long stretches of dormancy in between, with the bulk of the progress in late 2024 and the final push in October 2025.
