Hi, I'm Tasha — the person behind NLAStitches. This page explains what information this site collects, what I use it for, and who else gets to see it. Plain English, no lawyer-speak.
What I collect
I only collect what you give me directly:
- Email address — if you sign up for the newsletter on the homepage.
- Name, email, and your message — if you fill out the contact form.
I don't run advertising or tracking pixels of my own. I do use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit and roughly where they're coming from — see the third-party section below for details, and how to opt out if you'd rather.
What I use it for
- Newsletter emails — to send you new patterns, freebies, and tutorial updates. Roughly the cadence of "when I have something worth sharing," not constant.
- Replying to messages — that's it. I don't add people who message me to the newsletter.
I will never sell, trade, or rent your information to anyone.
Third-party services this site uses
A few parts of the site are powered by other companies. They each have their own privacy policies, linked below.
- Buttondown — handles the newsletter. When you subscribe, your email is stored with them so I can send you updates.
- Web3Forms — handles the contact form. Your message is delivered to my email through their service.
- Google Analytics — measures pageviews, rough location (country/region), device type, and how visitors got to the site. I use it to see which patterns and tutorials people actually read. Google Analytics does set cookies. If you'd rather not be tracked, you can install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which blocks Google Analytics on every site you visit (not just this one).
- Google (YouTube and Drive) — embedded videos and downloadable PDFs are hosted by Google. The site uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) embed, but Google may still collect data once you click play.
- Pinterest — clicking "Save" on a pattern or tutorial opens Pinterest in a new tab. No Pinterest tracking is loaded on this site itself.
- Behold — embeds the Instagram feed on the homepage.
- GitHub Pages — the site itself is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard server access logs.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets a few cookies to count unique visitors and sessions. Some embedded content (YouTube videos, the Instagram feed) may also set cookies once you interact with it. The site itself doesn't set any cookies beyond those.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter — every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're out.
- Delete your data — email me using the contact form and I'll remove your information from the newsletter list and any contact form records.
Kids
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
Questions
Anything unclear, or want me to remove your data? Send a note via the contact form and I'll get back to you.
