Halloween Biscornu Trio — Spiderweb

Halloween Biscornu Trio 2024 — Spiderweb (1 of 3) by Puntini Puntini — the trio is three small biscornu (eight-pointed cross-stitch pillows made by joining two 67×67 squares at a 45° offset so the corners pull into points), each in a different Halloween motif. This is the spiderweb one: a single black web stretches edge-to-edge across all eight sectors of the finished piece, with small spools of thread/ spiders tucked into the gaps between the web lines on each side. 67w × 67h per side in DMC floss.

Stitched on 32ct Be Stitch Me The Howling linen — a hand-dyed mottled rust/amber/dark-plum linen that reads as a rusty haunted-pasture sky under the black web, so the empty space between the web’s strands does most of the atmospheric work. The chart’s recommended fabric is a 36ct Murky linen, but The Howling sits in the same colour family with more visible mottling.

Started June 16, 2025. Finished stitching June 26, 2025 — about ten days of stitching.

FFO’d October 18, 2025 at Fall Finishing School — a 2025 finishing-class retreat run with Lady Dot Creates and The Blue Flower, where stitchers brought finished pieces and turned them into FFOs under instruction. The biscornu seaming edge were all done at the retreat.
