Year four of the tradition — one Monster Hunter monster, stitched for my husband, every year. Nargacuga came after Rathalos, Zinogre, and Mizutsune.

Nargacuga is a Flying Wyvern that debuted in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (2007), and it’s the closest the series has to a panther — jet-black, lithe, all about speed and pounce attacks instead of brute force. The signature trick is the bladed tail: Nargacuga can flick spike-scales off it like throwing knives, so you’re dodging melee swipes and projectiles at the same time. Easily one of the most-loved monsters from the older Freedom-era games and a regular returner across the series.

The pattern is based on Nargacuga’s in-game icon — the same stylized silhouette treatment Capcom uses for monster menu marks, matching the rest of the set. Same chunky weathered wood frame so the four pieces look like a series on the wall.
