Year seven of the tradition — one Monster Hunter monster, stitched for my husband, every year. Tigrex came after Yian Kut-Ku, Astalos, Nargacuga, Rathalos, Zinogre, and Mizutsune.

Tigrex is a Flying Wyvern that debuted in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (2007) — orange and black, tiger-striped, and built like a freight train. Where most wyverns fly elegantly, Tigrex runs on all fours, body-slamming and barreling around the arena like a wrecking ball with wings. The signature is the roar — loud enough to stagger you in place while it lines up the next charge. Generally considered the closest thing Monster Hunter has to a T-Rex, and one of the toughest classic monsters in the series.

Stitched on 14ct tea-dyed aida, matching the Yian Kut-Ku piece — the warm cream tone reads more aged-parchment than stark white and gives the icon palette a softer place to land. Pattern based on Tigrex’s in-game menu icon, framed in the same chunky weathered wood as the rest of the set.

Seven monsters, seven years, all on one wall.
